Left Hand’s National Community

Left Hand pastors are spending this week in Denver with 30 other pastors from around the country.

The retreat is being held by a new national organization (as yet unnamed) that aims to launch more inclusive, just and generous churches in the future.

The goal for this week’s retreat is to build community, share what’s working and what’s not working and build resources so that the next leaders who feel called to start a church in their community won’t have as much of an uphill battle.

While we’ve had challenging moments since starting Left Hand, having a tribe of other pastors from around the country has certainly lightened the load. Traditional Evangelical churches have a number of “church planting” organizations. It’s time our inclusive Christian community has such an organization.

Left Hand is the first such church to come out of this group and Paula and I serve on the founding team. Jen has been involved in helping plan how this new organization does the necessary work of starting anti-racist churches. Left Hand’s three supporting churches — Highlands Church Denver, Denver Community Church, and Forefront Church Brooklyn — are also involved in the leadership of this new organization.

The work has just begun but we’re excited for where God is leading us.

We’ll share more about this new organization in the months to come. In the meantime, please pray that God will guide everyone gathered this week.
